On
August 24, 2006, twelve prominent statewide
organizations formed the Vermont Business Coalition (VBC)
and Vermont Business Coalition Political Action
Committee (VBC-PAC). The VBC membership has grown to 13
organizations that have focused on the election of
pro-business candidates. In addition, the VBC-PAC
encouraged Vermont voters to support candidates who
support the creation of quality jobs, lower taxes and a
stronger economy when casting their vote.
Since the 2006 elections, VBC has met with new members
of the legislature. VBC intends to work toward educating
all legislators about the issues facing Vermont’s
businesses, as well as to educate Vermont voters about
the actions the legislature takes on the important
issues facing business.
There is broad understanding that a strong business
environment is vital to the financial well-being of
Vermont’s economy. In 2004, the latest available
figures, there were an estimated 74,957 businesses
representing a diverse group of entrepreneurs,
innovators and small business owners in Vermont. |
